Building Bridges Community Wide Poverty Simulation

Thursday, April 18, 2024 (11:30 AM - 1:30 PM) (CDT)

Description

Could you survive a month in poverty? Have you ever struggled to meet your family's basic needs? Building Bridges of Northeast Oklahoma is hosting a lunch and learn opportunity to help people understand the complexities and frustrations of living in poverty day to day. With a greater awareness of its impact we can effectively address the poverty issues in our community, and help break generational poverty. The simulation event will provide participants and sponsors the opportunity to assume the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget. The experience is divided into four sessions, each of which represents one week in which you must provide for your family and maintain your home. This intriguing opportunity provides a way to help dispel some of the myths of poverty and what we can do to help. We will wrap up this event with lunch and a recap of the simulation.
